It has recently been announced that Topher Gaylord will leave his current position as President VF Outdoor and Action Sports International, (The North Face, Vans and Reef brands), based in Italy to move back to his native USA. Topher has been a proactive Director of the European Outdoor Group since it was founded in 2005 and the announcement that he is to leave Europe to take up a new position within the VF Corporation is sad news for the organisation. Given annually to a personality who has made a special contribution to the topic of the outdoors, the winner is chosen by a panel of international leading trade journalists. Lifestyle driving force behind outdoor sector growth

The latest industry figures published by the European Outdoor Group (EOG) show a confident industry, with over 85% of members revealing that they felt either as confident, or more confident than in the same period for the previous year. The figures provided by the EOG members have been analysed and compared with previous years and show over three-quarters of members reported an increase in their domestic market sales in 2007, with just under two thirds reporting an increase of 4% or more.
