During the first two competitions, thousands of people across Europe engaged with #ItsGreatOutThere and the hashtag is now being widely used. In a short time period we created 8,000 engagements, a potential reach of 14.2 million contacts and have people across Europe participating in the competitions.
We now need to give the campaign one final push as we get closer to the first European Week of Sport (7–13 September). During that week, ‘Outdoor’ will be one of four focus topics and this gives us all an unparalleled opportunity to put our sector firmly on the political map for the long term. Demonstrating to policymakers that the public has been inspired by #ItsGreatOutThere will help to do this, which is why we are asking everyone involved in the industry to help.
Please use your social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) to encourage consumers to post outdoor related photos, videos and comments using #TakeSomeoneOutdoors, #ItsGreatOutThere and #BeActive (the official European Week of Sport hashtag) between now and 6 September. From 7-13, the public can then vote for the best submissions from all three competitions at www.itsgreatoutthere.com/finalvoting, which is another chance for ‘Outdoor’ to shine during the European Week of Sport.
Through ‘It’s Great Out There’, the outdoor industry is taking a lead to try and help address the inactivity crisis that is facing Europe. This campaign sends a strong signal to politicians in Brussels that with the right backing, we can play a major role in achieving some of their key priorities, so its success is very important for everyone who is operating in our industry. Thank you for any support that you have already provided and please help us now by promoting #TakeSomeoneOutdoors, #ItsGreatOutThere and #BeActive one more time.
