What is the Outdoor Market Intelligence Service (OMIS)?
OMIS is the new standard for data gathering and reporting for the European outdoor industry. The dashboard displays monthly sales data from outdoor brands and retailers, at the market, retailer, and brand level.
How did OMIS start?
For the last 15 years, the State of Trade report has been the single source of data analytics for the European outdoor industry. After the pandemic, it was clear that sell-in data was not sufficient to understand the market. The European Outdoor Group partnered with Sporting Insights and the OMIS pilot was launched in the UK in 2024.
What data is available in OMIS?
OMIS analyses sell-out data in the European outdoor market. The report does not attempt to forecast market behaviour, all data in OMIS is directly from the Data Contributors.
What is an OMIS Data Contributor?
A Data Contributor is a Retailer (online, e-commerce, brick & mortar) or a Brand (with D2C sales) providing sell-out data to the OMIS panel.
How do we become OMIS Data Contributors?
1. Sign a Data Exchange Agreement 2. Schedule a Technical meeting with Sporting Insights 3. Provision test data and then full historic data 4. Provision monthly data
What is an OMIS Data Subscriber?
A Data Subscriber is a Brand, Distributor or Retailer who wants to see Brand performance to make buying decisions. Data Subscribers gain access to Top Performing Brands.
What are the costs associated with OMIS?
Data Contribution is free. If you become an OMIS Data Contributor, you gain access to Market level data and Retailer level data for free. For Brand level data, there is a cost associated.

What is OMIS running on?
AWS, Snowflake and QuickSight.
Where is the data stored?
All the data is based in Dublin, Ireland and no EU boundaries are crossed. All the data we receive is secure with server-side encryption in our Amazon s3 storage layer. Data is uploaded to Amazon s3 using our SFTP service. Each data provider will have a dedicated area for the secure storage of their data, accessed through use of a private key and password. Data is processed in Snowflake which meets HITRUST and ISO27001 certification standards. Data visualization access is through Amazon QuickSight and managed through row level security, ensuring the Data Contributor’s data is visible only to the appropriate parties.
What data do we need?
We need your product file, your product categorization, please see here.
What currency is OMIS in?
The dashboard is displayed in Euros, but there is a currency filter. You can provide data at the currency at point-of-sale and it will be converted.
