EOG welcomes three new members

This week the European Outdoor group welcomed 3 new members, Peak Performance, Rematrix and the University of Leeds.

These three represent the breadth of organisations that EOG membership encompasses, from brand to EPR & circularity support partner to Academia and product testing expertise all are part of the wider outdoor industry value chain.

Peak Performance was founded in 1986, like many outdoor and snow-sport brands it started out as a couple of skiers who couldn't find the gear they needed so decided to design their own in Åre, in northern Sweden. Peak Performance still have a base there, straight up the mountain from Åre’s central square and their store, you can spot the Peak Performance Mountain House, along with their HQ in Stockholm.

Now part of the larger Amer Sports group the product range has grown to encompass more general outdoor product but still has the “If it can handle Åre, it can handle anything,” design ethos.

Peak Performance work across a wide range of Climate Action & Environmental Responsibility initiatives and say that "becoming a member of the European Outdoor Group will enable us to collaborate more closely with like‑minded brands and industry leaders, strengthen alignment across key sustainability areas, and drive collective progress on climate action, environmental protection, and responsible supply-chain practices. Together with the EOG community, we aim to contribute to meaningful and measurable improvement across the outdoor industry'.

At Peak Performance, the natural world is our greatest source of inspiration, which is why protecting it is our priority. Becoming part of the EOG enables us to collaborate even more closely with brands who share our core values, and together we look forward to driving meaningful progress across the outdoor industry, for our environment.

Rematrix is a Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) established to support the implementation of the upcoming Textile EPR framework in Italy. Their mission is to simplify regulatory compliance for brands while enabling the transition of the textile industry towards a circular business model that is both environmentally and economically sustainable.

Rematrix combines regulatory expertise, hands-on experience in EPR schemes, and direct involvement in textile-to-textile circular projects. They act as a key enabler across the value chain, connecting brands—who will be responsible for managing post-consumer textile waste—with recyclers that require high-quality feedstock to produce valuable secondary raw materials. By structuring and coordinating the entire system, Rematrix ensures an efficient and transparent closing of the loop, delivering value to companies that goes well beyond regulatory compliance.

We are very pleased to join the European Outdoor Group and to become part of such a relevant and forward-looking industry network. At Rematrix, we strongly believe that the transition towards circularity in the textile sector requires collaboration across the entire value chain. Through our experience in EPR schemes, regulatory expertise, and direct involvement in textile-to-textile recycling projects, we aim to contribute by connecting brands with the industrial ecosystem needed to effectively manage post-consumer waste. We see the EOG as a key platform to share knowledge, align on best practices, and accelerate the development of a truly circular and sustainable outdoor industry. We look forward to actively contributing and bringing value to the community.

The University of Leeds in the UK has long been regarded in the outdoor industry as a leading test house for outdoor product and the home of design courses that prepare the next generation of designers and technologists for the industry.

The research and testing carried out at Leeds has been integral in shaping policy and standards for product at an EU level and they work very closely on a wide range of initiatives with Outdoor brands.

Textile Technology

We have long been associated with the EOG through research and testing projects and speaking at EOG and industry events, members of the EOG team are also Leeds School of Design Alumni so the relationship is already well established, but we are pleased to now be official members so we can benefit from the EOGs knowledge base and make connections and support for European funding applications.
