EOG and 1% for the Planet partner to boost sustainability programmes

The European Outdoor Group (EOG) and 1% for the Planet (1%) have announced details of a new strategic partnership. Under the agreement, the members of both organisations will have access to extra benefits and insights from Europe and the USA. Meanwhile, the EOG and 1% for the Planet will elevate and promote each other’s work in the areas of CSR and sustainability.

1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses and environmental organisations that work together to support people and the planet. Its members contribute at least one percent of their annual revenue to environmental causes to protect the environment. The European Outdoor Group is the industry association that represents the European outdoor sector. Founded in 2003, the EOG now has around 150 members and leads a programme of activity on behalf of the industry, in areas such as CSR and sustainability, market research, conservation, promotion of participation, and public affairs. 1% for the Planet has officially joined the EOG as an Associate Member and the EOG has joined 1% as an Environmental Partner.

Existing 1% for the Planet members can now allocate their contributions towards the CSR and sustainability work undertaken by the EOG. This money can be used for decarbonisation projects, responsible consumption and production, environmental education, and the association’s Impact Accelerator Fund. Current EOG members can now put their membership fees towards their annual 1% commitmentallocation, and also give to the Impact Accelerator Fund via their contribution.

The EOG and 1% for the Planet will also cooperate on joint communications activities to promote their collective CSR and sustainability work, and encourage more companies to get actively involved in it. Between them, the two organisations are involved in sustainability projects around the world, and through the new partnership, they will put the spotlight on the fact that efforts to protect the planet need global action and cooperation to be effective.

Kate Williams, CEO of, 1% for the Planet, comments:

We’re honoured to join the European Outdoor Group as an associate member and to collaborate with others who are deeply committed to environmental responsibility. At 1% for the Planet, we know that meaningful change happens when values align - and this partnership reflects our shared dedication to protecting the natural world.

David Ekelund, EOG President, adds:

We’re happy to be able to collaborate more closely with 1% for the Planet, making it easier for more of our members to support environmental causes, which, in the end, will benefit us all. It feels like we’re now both members of ‘team one planet’ and this will be reflected in the work that we go on to do together.

NOTES

About the European Outdoor Group

The European Outdoor Group was founded in 2003 (formally constituted in 2005) by 19 of the world’s largest outdoor companies, all of which recognised the need for a cohesive, cross border approach to representation of the outdoor sector. In a world of increasing internationalisation, legislation, environment, the media and trade are all now multinational issues. The combined strength of the EOG’s membership of around 150 provides the group with an extremely powerful force to represent the European outdoor industry in a constructive and positive manner.
