CEN/CENELEC published 6 of 8 standards of the DPP framework

SUMMARY
On 28th May, CEN/CENELEC published 6 of 8 standards of the DPP framework. Members can find more information on the standards and the progress of the work here.

The list of standards that are now finalized includes the following:
- EN 18216:2026 Data exchange protocols
- EN 18219:2026 Unique Identifiers
- EN 18220:2026 Data carriers
- EN 18221:2026 Data storage, archiving and data persistence
- EN 18222:2026 Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for the product passport lifecycle management and searchability
- EN 18223:2026 System interoperability
Two standards are still in the final voting process and are expected to be published later this year. This includes the following:
- EN 18239:2026 Access rights management, information system security, and business confidentiality
- EN 18246:2026 Data authentication, reliability and integrity
NEXT STEPS
Once the standards will be published in the Official Journal of the EU, they will give a presumption of conformity with ESPR. For the time being, the exact timeline of the publication is not yet available. Based on the past experience and exchange with other stakeholders, it can take days but also years.
