Publication of EP CULT draft report on the Erasmus+ proposal for 2028-2034

SUMMARY:
- Last week, the European Parliament CULT committee published the draft report of MEP Bogdan Zdrojewski (EPP, Poland) on the Regulation proposal establishing the Erasmus+ programme for the period 2028-2034.
- Some very positive amendments should be noted, in particular the Rapporteur’s proposal to increase the share of the sport budget within Erasmus+ to 4.1%.
- The deadline for amendments is on 10 June. FESI is currently working with the MFF coalition on some amendments proposals, including calling for an even higher allocation of 5%.
MORE INFORMATION
We are happy to see that several of FESI’s demands, highlighted in our December joint letter and during our meeting with the Rapporteur’s assistant in March, have been reflected in the draft report, in particular:
- Earmarking a share of the Erasmus+ budget for sport and physical activity. Although we had proposed 5% and the draft report suggests 4,1%, this remains a positive development, as it secures a concrete and increased allocation for sport. FESI, together with the MFF coalition, will continue to advocate for a 5% share ahead of the amendments deadline.
- Inclusion of « physical activity » alongside sport (AM 25)
- Focus on inclusion, solidarity and participation
- Simplifying funding procedures and enhancing transparency (AM 13)
- Extending eligibility and strengthening transnational cooperation (AM 21)
- Mainstreaming sport and physical activity across all relevant EU policy areas and calling for synergies with other EU funds (AM 27)
