EU anti-dumping duties on Chinese polyamide yarn

SUMMARY :

  • The European Commission imposed definitive anti-dumping duties of 60.0% to 67.6% on certain polyamide/nylon yarns from China, effective from 29 July 2026, potentially increasing input costs for EU manufacturers of sportswear, swimwear and technical textiles.

More details :

The European Commission has published Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1823 in the Official Journal, imposing definitive anti-dumping duties on certain polyamide/nylon yarns originating in China (see attached document).

The duties apply to covered yarns under CN codes 5402 31 00, 5402 45 00, 5402 51 00 and 5402 61 00, at the following rates:

  • 60.0% for the Eversun Group;
  • 67.6% for the Highsun Group;
  • 62.2% for other cooperating producers; and
  • 67.6% for all other Chinese imports.

The Commission opened its investigation in July 2025 following a complaint from European yarn producers. Provisional duties were introduced in March 2026, and the Commission has now confirmed its findings of dumping and material injury. The definitive measures enter into force on 29 July 2026. Provisional duties already secured will be collected up to the definitive rates, with any excess released.

The measures may directly affect EU sporting-goods manufacturers importing covered Chinese yarn for sportswear, swimwear or technical textiles. Companies purchasing EU-manufactured fabric made from this yarn may also be affected indirectly if suppliers pass on the additional costs. Finished products imported into the EU are not directly covered merely because they contain the affected yarn.

During the investigation, downstream textile users and industry associations warned of higher raw-material costs, reduced competitiveness and possible relocation of EU production. The Commission considered that those findings were insufficiently supported by verified evidence and concluded that the alleged downstream impact did not outweigh the need to restore fair competition.
