EU Launches Due Diligence Navigator for Partner Countries

SUMMARY:

  • As part of the Team Europe Initiative on Sustainability in Global Value Chains, the Due Diligence Navigator for Partner Countries was officially launched on Monday. The Navigator is a tool intended to aid stakeholders in EU partner countries to find information and support on the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) that will apply from July 2029 onwards. Members can access the Navigator through its webpage.
  • The Navigator was jointly funded by the European Commission (DG INTPA) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and was implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

MORE INFORMATION:

The Navigator is a dedicated service that supports non-EU stakeholders, such as suppliers indirectly affected by the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). It helps them understand and access information on the Directive, which will apply from July 2029, by providing clear guidance on EU due diligence legislation and its implications beyond the EU. The service also offers access to a wide range of support tools and resources from the European Commission, Member States, and other organisations.

The Navigator can be accessed through its webpage, which includes a searchable database of support options, or through direct contact with a team of experts who can provide tailored assistance.

Key features of the Navigator include:

  • Information access, in the form accessible and user-friendly information on the CSDDD and related EU due diligence legislation, including implications for non-EU stakeholders;
  • A database of support programs, as well as practical tools for risk assessment and reporting;
  • Tailored advice for extra-EU stakeholders, which will be provided by the dedicated Navigator Team upon request;
  • A curated overview of a wide range of support available from the European Commission, EU Member States and other organisations;
  • Assistance in connecting stakeholders across EU and non-EU States.
