Denmark is set to take the presidency of the Council of the EU from July to December 2025. The presidency notably has a role in the negotiating process when new legislation is adopted by proposing compromise texts to the other Member States until they all agree on a common position. Nevertheless, the power of the presidency must not be overestimated, as the files it can work on are still dictated by the Commission's proposals.
