Publication of the WFD in the Official Journal of the European Union

SUMMARY

• The Waste Framework Directive was published in the Official Journal on the 26^th of September. Members can find final text here.
• The Directive will enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal.
• The timeline for implementation is phased:
  
  • by second half of October 2025 – Entry into force
  • by June 2027 – Member States must transpose the directive into national law;
  • by April 2028 – textile producer responsibility schemes must be operational;
  • by April 2029 – obligations will extend to micro-enterprises;
