EFRAG published the new interactive Draft Simplified ESRS on the Knowledge Hub

SUMMARY

  • EFRAG published the new interactive Draft Simplified European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) on the Knowledge Hub, significantly facilitating stakeholders in moving between the current 2023 ESRS and EFRAG’s draft simplified ESRS.
  • Members can access the Knowledge Hub here, after registering to the site.

MORE DETAILS

The Draft Standards have been elaborated by EFRAG as part of Omnibus I, following the mandate received from the European Commission on 27 March 2025. They were then delivered as Technical Advice to the European Commission on 30 November 2025.

The European Commission is expected to adopt the simplified standards in by Q3 2026. Once adopted, they  will replace the 2023 ESRS.

On EFRAG's Knowledge Hub, Members can find:

  • The full draft simplified ESRS text (as published early December and submitted to the European Commission in 2025) presented in an easy-to-navigate structure;
  • Direct links from each amended disclosure to the corresponding paragraph(s) in the 2023 ESRS from which it originates;
  • Reverse links from the 2023 ESRS showing the Log of Amendments and pointing to the new draft simplified paragraphs.
  • These cross-references make it significantly easier for stakeholders to move between the 2023 ESRS and the draft simplified ESRS, to explore the underlying changes and understand how disclosures have been streamlined.

NEXT STEPS:

  • The Commission is expected to adopt the simplified drafts ESRS by Q3 2026;
  • FESI will continue to monitor ESRS developments and will update Members on any forthcoming EFRAG and Knowledge Hub updates.
